פרס ויויאן סילבר לזכרה של פעילת השלום שנרצחה ב-7 באוקטובר הוענק השנה לד"ר עו"ד קמר מישרקי אסעד ולפרופ' יופי תירוש כהוקרה על תרומתן לקידום שותפות ערבית-יהודית ושלום.
עשרות מועמדות הוצעו בעקבות הקול הקורא שפרסמו מייסדי הפרס, מתוכן בחרה ועדת השיפוט להעניק את הפרס, בסך 15,000 דולר לכל זוכה, לד"ר עו"ד קמר מישרקי אסעד מייסדת שותפה של ארגון חקל - ברית להגנה על זכויות אדם; ופרופ' יופי תירוש, משפטנית פורצת דרך מאוניברסיטת תל אביב. הן ממשיכות את מפעל חייה של ויויאן: הפעילות שלהן מגשימה את רוחה ואת מאמציה הבלתי פוסקים לעתיד צודק, כולל ושוויוני עבור כל תושבי האזור.
The Vivian Silver Prize, commemorating the peace activist who was murdered on October 7, was awarded this year to Dr. Kamar Mishraqy-Assad and Prof. Yofi Tirosh, in recognition of their contribution to advancing Arab–Jewish partnership and peace.
Dozens of candidates were nominated following the call for submissions issued by the founders of the prize. From these, the judging committee selected two laureates, each receiving a prize of $15,000: Dr. Kamar Mishraqy-Assad, co-founder of Haqul – Alliance for the Defense of Human Rights, and Prof. Yofi Tirosh, a trailblazing legal scholar from Tel Aviv University.
They continue Vivian’s life’s work: their activism embodies her spirit and her unceasing efforts toward a fair, inclusive, and equal future for all residents of the region.

חמישה עשורים הקדישה ויויאן סילבר ז"ל, שנרצחה בביתה בקיבוץ בארי במתקפת הטרור ב-7 באוקטובר, לבניית גשרים בין אנשים. בעין חדה ובלב פתוח יצרה שותפויות, קידמה שוויון, וחתרה ללא לאות לשלום בין יהודים לפלסטינים. דרכה של סילבר התאפיינה בבניית שותפויות אמיתיות. היא הייתה ממקימי קיבוץ גזר, ניהלה במשותף עם אמל אלסאנע-אלחג'וג' את ארגון אג'יק-מכון הנגב, הייתה ממייסדות תנועת "נשים עושות שלום" וחברת הועד המנהל של הקרן החדשה לישראל. בכל תפקידיה הקפידה על מנהיגות משתפת ולא-היררכית.
כעת משפחתה וחבריה מבקשים להבטיח שמורשת זו של פעולה, התמדה ותקווה תמשיך להאיר את הדרך. בשיתוף הקרן החדשה לישראל, הם יסדו את פרס ויויאן סילבר שיוענק מדי שנה לשתי נשים, יהודייה ופלסטינית, הפועלות בתחומים שהיו במוקד חייה: בניית שותפות ערבית-יהודית בישראל, קידום השלום הישראלי-פלסטיני, וקידום נשים למוקדי קבלת החלטות ומנהיגות.

Vivian Silver, who was murdered in her home on Kibbutz Beeri during the terror attack of October 7, dedicated five decades to building bridges between people. With a clear eye and an open heart, she created partnerships, advanced equality, and unceasingly pursued peace between Jews and Palestinians. Silver’s path was one of authentic partnership. She was among the founders of Kibbutz Gezer; together with Amal Alsana-Alhjooj, she led the AJEEC-Negev Institute; she was one of the initiators of Women Wage Peace, and a member of the board of directors of the New Israel Fund. Vivian was an inclusive, engaging leader in everything she did.
In order to ensure that her legacy of activism, persistence, and hope will continue to light the way, her family and friends have established the Vivian Silver Impact Award, in partnership with the New Israel Fund. The prize will be awarded annually to two women – one Jewish and one Palestinian – who work in the fields that were central to Silver’s life: establishing Arab-Jewish partnership in Israel, advancing Israeli-Palestinian peace, and advancing women to positions of leadership and decision making.

בנימוקי הענקת הפרס נכתב כי לפעילותה המשפטית והחברתית של ד"ר מישרקי אסעד יש השפעה משמעותית, במיוחד בתחום זכויות האדם בשטחים הכבושים, שם היא מגנה על פלסטינים מפני אלימות מתנחלים, הריסת בתים והפקעות קרקע. הוועדה הדגישה את התמדה והמנהיגות שלה מול קשיים עצומים, כולל חוסר הגנה מצד כוחות הביטחון, שהובילו לכך שהיא אפשרה לתושבים בכמה כפרים בדרום הר חברון לשוב לבתיהם לאחר מאבק ממושך. פעילותה מגלמת את רוחן של מאמצי ויויאן להיאבק למען צדק ושוויון עבור הקהילות המוחלשות ביותר באזור.
The judges stated that Dr. Quamar Mishirqi Assad’s legal and social activism has a significant impact, particularly in the field of human rights in the Occupied Territories, where she defends Palestinians against settler violence, home demolitions, and land confiscations. The committee highlighted her persistence and leadership in the face of immense challenges, including the lack of protection from security forces, which enabled residents of several villages in the South Hebron Hills to return to their homes after a prolonged struggle. Her work embodies the spirit of Vivian’s efforts to fight for justice and equality for the most marginalized communities in the region.

על פרופ' יופי תירוש, הוועדה הצביעה על תרומתה המשמעותית לקידום שוויון והגנה על זכויות נשים, תוך שמירה על דיאלוג מתמשך ומכבד בין צדדים מנוגדים. היא מובילה את המאבק נגד הדרת נשים ממוסדות ציבור ומקבלת החלטות, ומקדמת את ההכללה של נשים בתחומים קריטיים של שלום וביטחון. פעילותה מגלמת את מחויבותה של ויויאן לשילוב נשים בהחלטות ובמאבקים למען צדק, ושואפת ליצור חברה צודקת, שוויונית וכללית לכל תושבי האזור.
Regarding Prof. Yofi Tirosh, the judges highlighted her significant contribution to advancing equality and protecting women’s rights, while maintaining continuous and respectful dialogue between opposing parties. She leads the struggle against the exclusion of women from public institutions and decision-making, and promotes the inclusion of women in critical areas of peace and security. Her work embodies Vivian’s commitment to integrating women into decision-making and justice efforts, striving to create a fair, equal, and inclusive society for all residents of the region.
